Responsibilities

  • Assumes overall responsibility for the effective performance of all purchasing related functions for 2ndgear Division
  • Oversees ALL equipment purchases by the Buyers for relevancy, pricing and accuracy.
  • Identifies, recommends, and reviews opportunities from all Buyers for “spec. buy” equipment
  • Collaborates with Tech Center staff on the purchase of parts/units needed for refurbishment, repair or replacement warranty claims.
  • Directs and updates 2NDGEAR’s technical audit team to ensure that grading of used equipment is consistent and meets established quality standards.
  • Maintains appropriate inventory levels of Core Equipment for Resale throughout year based on seasonal trends, overall value, aging, demand and Executive Management directives.
  • Directs wholesale traders in selling aged inventory. Reviews and approves deals for health and company benefits.
  • Collaborates with FAR Group reporting by managing aged inventory and standard inventory reserve practices.
  • Sets all pricing (Floor and Retail) to Sales Teams for New and Off Lease product that aligns with 2ndgear margin goals.
  • Manages Core Products/Addons Pricing Portal by determining the FMC’s (Fair Market Cost), links quantities available and updates Portal as needed.
  • Reviews, Adjusts, Approves Monthly Wholesale Traders PO Transfer Commissions for Audit quality of Purchases made and accuracy.
  • Reviews, Adjusts, Approves Monthly Sales Representatives commissions file for accurate FMC and margin attainment.
  • In concert with FAR Group, review and validate IFS Transfer amounts monthly.
  • Collaborates with Marketing/Web Team on product specials, updates and strategies to sell new or aging items.
  • Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining professional business relations with Vendors and major Distributors to maximize the relationships.
  • Establishes New Refurbish/Used Vendor criteria for on boarding and oversees their progression and value to the company through payment terms, quality, audit results, delivery times and responsiveness.
  • Reports and takes actions accordingly to monthly appraisals of audited equipment by Vendors and Buyers. (Put Vendors on hold and/or counsel buyers)
  • Establishes and oversees RTV process with Vendors and Buyers
  • Provides leadership through effective goal setting, delegation, and communication
  • Conducts regular staff meetings to ensure that personnel are well informed of changes in policies and procedures
  • Supervises, trains, and coordinates 2ndgear Purchasing personnel both Domestic and International. Aids and supports as needed.
  • Conducts performance appraisals. Formulates and implements employee corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensures that staffing levels are appropriate. Interviews, hires, and assigns personnel.
  • Be an ambassador and advocate of outsourcing efforts and team.
  • Assist IFS/RED8/Portfolio Management in obtaining market information (FMV, product relevance, buyback pricing)
  • Manages and develops business process improvements to purchasing process and other adjacent processes.
  • Responsible for the effective performance of all inventory control and aspects of purchasing associated with 2NDGEAR
  • Work with Executive Management to determine roadmap for future opportunities including revenue growth, margin attainment, staffing, etc.

Qualifications / Education


  • 5-10 years of Purchasing/Procurement and Sales experience preferably in technology industry within high levels of Organizations
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Great Plains would be a plus
  • Moderate proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point, CRM
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience and training

  • Understand Information Technology equipment including computer desktops, laptops and any other IT related asset
